I recently had the pleasure of going out with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office to examine a crosswalk on Seidel Road. On my way, I saw a person in neon orange leapfrogging across the street; drivers going 70mph in a 35mph zone; a crossing guard struggling to do her job; and pedestrians chasing shade. This week, I will be on Apopka Vineland Rd to go out and examine traffic safety concerns and I am sure I will see the same. From every corner in the County, people want to be able to walk, bike, or drive to their destination safely. You don’t need to be an engineer to know how to improve safety on our roads. Why wait for a retrofit when we can save lives today by design?
