Impact Fees

Transportation impact fees are meant to make developers pay for their impact on our roadways.

For 15 years, Orange County lost millions of dollars per year by lowering the impact fees that should have been helping us combat the sprawl in District 1. The taxpayers end up paying when developers don’t.

In 2021, I voted to raise impact fees to the highest rate allowable under state law. Since then, it has been our priority to catch up on the infrastructure that has been under-funded for far too long in West Orange County!

Vision 2050

For years, we have worked with our residents and county staff on Vision 2050. This is a massive update to Orange County’s comprehensive plan aimed at steering smart and sustainable growth for the next thirty years. With your help, we keyed in on the specifics of our maps and conservation language to make sure Vision 2050 aligns closely with community interests while achieving key sustainability objectives. The plan is set for adoption in September 2024!

Rural Boundary

The Charter Review Commission has been actively working with residents over the past few months to draft an ordinance for rural land protection, aiming to include it on the ballots this November. Although special interests presented challenges, the Board has decided to advance the proposal and allow voters to determine its fate. This amendment is designed to equip our community with an additional means to curb irresponsible sprawl.

Lake Avalon Rural Settlement Preservation District

In June 2024, the establishment of the Lake Avalon Rural Settlement Preservation District was approved, marking a significant step in preserving the rural character of the community. This new district not only protects the area’s unique rural nature but also introduces an exclusive process for future voluntary annexations. This achievement was made possible through close collaboration and engagement with the community.

Tourist Development Tax

We emphasized the importance of rethinking Tourist Development Tax allocations to prioritize infrastructure and local needs over large projects, advocating for a balanced approach that benefits both residents and tourists.
